Your First Scheduled Scan

Scheduled scans (Scheduled Scanning) are automated, server-side accessibility audits that run on a defined schedule or on demand. Each scan crawls the URLs you give it — no tracking script needed.

Create a Scan

From the Sites list:

  1. Click Scans on the desired website's card (or open the site and choose Scheduled scans in the sidebar).
  2. Click New scan.

You can also get there from New scan on the site's overview, or from Create scan in the Get set up checklist on the Overview.

The new-scan form is split into sections:

  • Basics – enter a Scan name
  • Schedule – choose a Frequency (On demand, Daily, Weekly or Monthly) and a Rate limit to control how fast pages are requested
  • Standards – keep the organization's scanning rules or set this scan's own
  • Authentication – if your pages are only visible after signing in, set up Authentication so the scan signs in before auditing
  • Cookies – if a consent banner covers your pages, add the banner's consent cookie so it is dismissed before each page is scanned (Cookies)
  • Advanced – proxy settings (collapsed)

Click Create and continue. The scan is saved and its URLs tab opens so you can add pages.

Add URLs to Scan

On the scan's URLs tab, add the URLs you want to scan using one of the following methods:

  • Add URL – manually enter individual URLs
  • Fetch Home Page URLs – automatically discover URLs from the homepage
  • Import Sitemap – reference a sitemap
  • Import CSV – upload a list of URLs in CSV format

You can enable or disable URLs individually and manage them at any time.

Activate and Run Scans

Once URLs are added, use the action at the right of the scan's tab bar:

  • Activate scan to start scheduled (daily, weekly or monthly) scans
  • Run scan now to trigger an on-demand scan manually

You can view all scan runs, statuses and results on the scan's Runs tab, and all of a site's scans under Scheduled scans.

From a scan report, you can:

  • Review overall accessibility scores and issue summaries
  • Drill down into individual URLs
  • Explore issue details, including severity, WCAG references, CSS selectors, and HTML markup
  • Open issues directly in Dev Assistant for live, in-context inspection

Real-time monitoring and scheduled scans can be used independently or together to support continuous monitoring and periodic accessibility audits.
